MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 27, 2025) – Sophomore Owen Recker of the West Virginia University men’s swimming and diving team will compete at the 2025 Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships at Weyerhaeuser Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington, on March 28 and 29.
Recker became the first male WVU diver to qualify for the NCAA Championships since 2022 after placing fifth on platform at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships. A 12th place finish on 3-meter also qualified Recker in the event for the NCAA Championships.
“I am ecstatic about my first NCAAs,” Recker said. “After not making finals individually at the Big 12 Championships, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was definitely a turnaround qualifying in two events for nationals.”
Recker is the lone Mountaineer to qualify for the NCAA Championships and is the first student-athlete from the men’s swimming and diving team to qualify since 2023. Recker is one of 12 divers who qualified from Zone A following the diving championships. View live stats here
He will compete in the 3-meter prelims on Friday at 1 p.m. ET and the platform prelims on Saturday at 1 p.m. The NCAA Championships will be live-streamed on ESPN+.
