MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women’s basketball head coach Mark Kellogg has announced the addition of Loghan Johnson (Houston, Texas / Texas Tech) to a grant-in-aid for the 2025-26 academic year.

“We are thrilled to add Loghan to our Mountaineer program,” Kellogg said. “She is a perfect fit both on and off the court”

“Loghan is tough, aggressive, and active on defense and she will thrive in our defensive system. She can get downhill and attack the basket at a high rate or step out and hit the three. Mountaineer fans will love watching Loghan compete in the Gold and Blue”

The 5-foot-10 guard from Houston, Texas has played two seasons of collegiate basketball with two seasons of eligibility left after beginning her career at Texas Tech.

Johnson has netted 346 points, 178 rebounds and 90 assists in two seasons. She has played in 69 career contests, making 13 starts, while recording 1,266 minutes played.

Last season, Loghan played in all 37 games while making four starts. She averaged 5.5 points and 2.5 rebounds while playing 17.9 minutes per game.  She scored in double-figures six times and produced a career-high 17 points against Oklahoma State. The guard connected on 52.3 percent of her attempts from the field.

During her freshman season, she played in 32 games, starting nine games while averaging 4.4 points and 2.6 rebounds. Loghan played 18.4 minutes per game and finished her first season with a 39.5 percent field goal percentage, hitting 49 of 124 attempts from the field.

Rated as a consensus four-star product out of high school and included in ESPNWs’ Top-100 prospects in the 2023 class, Johnson played for Ryan Bickham at Houston Christian Academy where she led the team to back-to-back 4A state titles in 2022 and 2023. She was named the TABC Large Private School Player of the Year in 2022 and 2023, a Southwest Prep Conference First Team selection and a McDonalds All-American Nominee. She also helped the CY Fair Elite to the 2022 EYBL Nike National Championship.

Loghan intends to major in business while at West Virginia University. She is the daughter of Daryl and Shell Johnson, and she has two siblings, named Morgan and Nick.
