WVU Women’s Basketball: JJ Quinerly Top Moments From 2024-25 Season

WVU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: JJ QUINERLY TOP MOMENTS FROM 2024-25 SEASON —MARCH 31, 2025—WVU Mountaineers senior guard JJ Quinerly did not conclude her season as she had hoped. After a 19-point win against the Columbia Lions in the tournament’s opening round, WVU came up short against UNC by a 58-47 margin.

Quinerly led the Mountaineers in scoring this season, putting up 20.4 points per contest. Unfortunately, she did not have a great outing against the Tarheels. The veteran guard managed just eight points on 2-for-12 shooting overall. She also missed each of her three attempts from beyond the arc.

Despite the disappointing showing in the final game of her collegiate career, Quinerly produced her fair share of memorable moments. So, without further ado, here’s a look at some of her noteworthy performances from this past season.

JJ Quinerly Top Moment No. 3: WVU vs. Texas

Texas led this contest by double-digit margins on several occasions. But a 3-pointer from Sydney Shaw trimmed the deficit to 74-73. Unfortunately, this was the last basket for the Mountaineers as the Longhorns scored the game’s final four points. Quinnerly finished with 29 points on 10-for-18 shooting overall and a 10-for-14 effort from the charity stripe.

JJ Quinerly Top Moment No. 2: WVU vs. UCF

WVU had dropped two of its previous three games heading into the match against UCF on Jan. 1. However, the Mountaineers were clicking on all cylinders against the Knights. They jumped out to a 32-10 lead after the opening stanza and increased the lead to 50-16 at the break. The result was a triumphant 80-58 victory. Quinerly scored what was a season-high 31 points, including 21 in the game’s first 20 minutes.

JJ Quinerly Top Moment From 2024-25 Season: WVU vs. Utah

The Mountaineers were coming off a 71-50 setback against TCU when they faced the Utah Utes on Feb. 26. But as it had done multiple times this season, WVU’s defense rose to the occasion. The Mountaineers allowed 36 points through the first three quarters. And in the final frame, they outscored Utah 24-10, enabling them to coast to a 29-point victory. Quinerly scored a career-high 38 points on an efficient 16-for-21 from the floor. She also shot 4-for-5 from 3-point range and collected four steals.

Quinerly also had seven 20-plus point outings in her last 10 contests and racked up a few accolades. The partial list includes:

  • 3x All-Big 12
  • 2025 All-Big 12 Tourney
  • 3x Big 12 All-Defense
  • Big 12 All-Freshman
  • 2x Big 12 DPOY

Quinerly offered this assessment about her career at WVU following her final game via TheDAOnline.com:

“I hope to be remembered as probably one of the best guards to play at West Virginia University. I think I did a lot under a lot of different coaches,” Quinerly said. “Honestly, I think I left a legacy here, and I left the program better than it was when I first came in.”

Quinerly increased her scoring output each season. She was also the team’s leading scorer in head coach Mark Kellogg’s first two years at the helm.

“I hope she gets her number called on draft night and gets in a training camp and goes and makes us all proud, which she’ll do regardless of what it looks like,” Kellogg said.

Considering Quinerly is a solid scorer and an above-average defender, she will be a valuable addition to any WNBA roster.
