Morgantown, W.Va.- The West Virginia Women’s Tennis Club continues to struggle towards the end of their season, as they suffered another tough loss Friday to the Texas Tech Red Raiders by a 4-0 decision at Summit Tennis Academy in Morgantown. It has been a frustrating year for West Virginia Tennis as the club has gone 1-11 in their last twelve matchups.
West Virginia’s Promising Match Goes Unfinished
The Mountaineers nearly came away with a victory in doubles play. The pairing of senior Mille Haagensen and graduate student Julie Bousseau nearly defeated Avelina Sayfetdinova and Mariia Hlahola of Texas Tech in the No. seed match. However, the match went unfinished as WVU was leading 5-4.

Mountaineers Struggle In Singles Play
The Mountaineers were unable to gain any traction in singles play as Texas Tech won three matches to secure the victory.
Big 12 Standings For WVU And Texas Tech
With today’s loss West Virginia now has an overall record of 7-15, and a conference record of 1-10. West Virginia now sits in last place in the Big 12 Conference.
The Win for Texas Tech marks their fifth consecutive win, as the Red Raiders improve to 16-2 on the season, and 9-1 in Big 12 Conference play.

West Virginia’s Upcoming Matchups
The Mountaineers look to shake off yet another frustrating loss as they welcome the Colorado Buffaloes to Morgantown on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
Colorado has a current overall record of 7-11, and a conference record of 1-9. The Buffaloes currently sit at number 14 in the Big 12 Conference. Colorado is currently looking for answers as they have lost ten of their last eleven matchups. The Buffaloes were defeated by the Cincinnati Bearcats this afternoon by a score of 5-1.
Colorado’s last two victories came against Houston on March 23rd (4-1), and against UNLV on February 21st (4-1).
The matchup vs Colorado will serve as the Mountaineers’ senior day.
West Virginia will close out the regular season at Cincinnati on April 12th at noon.
The Bearcats sit at number 13 in the Big 12 Conference with an overall record of 9-10, and a Conference record of 1-9. Cincinnati currently holds a two game winning streak by defeating Colorado today (5-1), and NKU on April 2nd (7-0).
Cincinnati will face Texas Tech on April 6th, and Dayton on April 9th before their match against the Mountaineers.
