The West Virginia Women’s Tennis Club continues to struggle as they were defeated in their matchup against BYU Saturday Morning In Morgantown. The match was rough from the start for West Virginia as they lost two of the three doubles matches to fall behind the Cougars 1-0. In singles play, BYU continued their vigorous performance by winning three matches to seal their victory.

Senior Mille Haagensen suffered a tough loss against Bobo Huang in the No. 1 seed match by decisions of 6-1, 6-3.  Graduate student Julie Bousseau lost in the No. 2 match and freshman Laura Villanueva Morillo came up short in the No. 5 seed match as the Mountaineers were defeated in their ninth straight match. With today’s loss the Mountaineers now have an overall record of 6-13, and are still winless (0-8) in Big 12 Conference. West Virginia currently sits in last place in the Big 12.

WVU Set To Face Houston, UCF

The Mountaineers will go on the road to Houston to face-off against the Houston Cougars on Friday, March 28th. Houston currently has an overall record of 3-10 and are winless (0-7) in Big 12 competition. Houston is coming off a 4-0 loss to Texas Tech and will face Colorado tomorrow at 2 p.m. CT. West Virginia will continue the road trip for their toughest test of the season as they face the UCF Knights in Orlando Florida on Sunday, March 30th. The Knights sit at top of the Big 12 Conference with an overall record of 14-1 and an undefeated record (6-0) in Big 12 Conference play. UCF is coming off a 4-1 victory over Kansas and will face Texas Tech and Cincinnati before their matchup against West Virginia.
