NCAA Selections and Bids
This bid for WVU will mark the 44th regional championship appearance, the 39th in the NCAA competition, and the 9th qualification in the past decade.
West Virginia has advanced to the NCAA National Championships three times since 1983 (1995, 1999, 2000). Their NQS of 195.855 allowed the Mountaineers to enter the regional competition with a season high of 196.275. The team is currently ranked No. 36 nationally, No. 35 on vault, No. 47 on bars, No. 34 on beam, and No. 33 on floor.
Individual Event Specialists
The NCAA committee selected the top 12 all-around competitors and the top 16 event specialists (based on NQS). The qualifiers were placed geographically into one of the four regional sites. Anna Leigh (senior), Karleigh DiCello (freshman) and Sophia Rice (freshman) were chosen as individual event specialists. Leigh will perform a floor exercise, Rice will be on vault, and DiCello on vault and beam.
How to Purchase Tickets
Tickets are now available through the Penn State Ticket Office. The tickets are all-session and cost $32 for adults and $20 for children (12-and-under). All tickets are general admission, and single-session tickets will be sold at a later date.
National Championships
Based on WVU’s performance, we may have the opportunity to advance to the national championships held in Fort Worth, Texas, from April 17-19.
The top two teams and the top all-around competitor (not from an already advancing team) from each regional will automatically advance to the national championships. The top event specialist at each regional site (who is not part of an advancing team or all-around competitor) will also advance in that event only.
