WVU Earns NWCA Team Scholar All-America Honor for the First Time Since 2021

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University wrestling team was named a Scholar All-America Team by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) as announced on Thursday.

The Mountaineers posted a 3.45 GPA to earn the honor for the first time since 2021. West Virginia also had eight wrestlers named NWCA Scholar All-Americans for the 2024-25 season. This marks the most Mountaineers honored as NWCA Scholar All-Americans in program history. West Virginia has had five consecutive years with at least three NWCA Scholar All-Americans.

West Virginia was represented by redshirt sophomore Ian Bush, senior Michael Dolan, fifth-year Caleb Dowling, fifth-year Peyton Hall, freshman Mason Kernan, freshman Rune Lawrence, fifth-year Tommy Maddox and redshirt junior Jace Schafer.
