On Friday, April 4th, the West Virginia University track and field team showcased impressive performances on the first day of the Dalton Ebanks Invitational in Fairfax, Virginia. 400-Meter Hurdles
Sophomore Lily Haught claimed second place in the 400-meter hurdles, securing a personal best time of 1:01.54.
Haught has been successful in the 400-meter hurdles in the past. In her 2023-24 outdoor season, Haught finished first in this event at the WVU Last Chance Meet.
She also set a personal best time of 1:02.23 previously in the hurdles at the Big 12 Championship.
3,000-Meter Steeplechase
Redshirt junior Zara Zervos placed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, collecting a personal record time of 11:16.85.
In her 2023-24 season, Zervos earned a career best time of 11:27.78 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the WVU Last Chance Meet, finishing fifth. She also finished fifth at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational.

Long Jump
During her performance in the long jump, freshman Sabria Jones secured the last career best performance of the day. Coming in fourth, Jones reached the 5.70-meter mark.
During her high school career, Jones was the four-time regional champion in the long jump.
She also was the district champion in the long jump through all four years of high school. She also still holds Steubenville’s record in the long jump and the 200 meters.
800-Meters
Starting off the event, sophomore Kishay Rowe represented the Mountaineers well by placing second with a time of 2:05.97. Freshman Carlene Temple, sophomore Eva Rinker, and redshirt freshman Audrey Hall placed in the event.
Rowe finished in the 800-meters during her 2023-24 season with a personal best time of 2:06.72, at the Big 12 Championship. She also claimed first in the event at the WVU Last Chance Meet.
During high school, Temple ran for a personal best time of 2:09.59 in the 800-meters and placed second in the Jamaican U20 Championships.
Rinker made strides in the 800-meter during her 2023-24 season, indoor and outdoor. Indoor, Rinker ran for a personal best time of 2:15.54 at the Sykes and Sabock Challenge. In her outdoor season, she claimed fourth place at the Mountaineer Twilight, and third at the Stan Romanoski Open.
Hall achieved Track All-State, All-Region, Conference Champion, and State silver medal in the 800-meter during her high school career.
High Jump
Redshirt sophomore Annishka McDonald took second place in the high jump, at 1.74 meters.
Senior Eden Williams and sophomore Victoria Marston both reached 1.53 meters.
McDonald recorded her personal best of 1.74 meters in the high jump at the Nittany Lion Challenge, where she placed second. She finished first at the Penn State Tune-Up and Sykes and Sabock Challenge. At the Big 12 Championship, she claimed 11th place.
Williams has had a very successful collegiate career. For example, in her 2023-24 season she placed fourth in the high jump at the YSU Collegiate Invitational and finished eighth at the WVU Last Chance Meet.
Marston finished third with a personal best of 1.60 meters at the YSU Collegiate Invitational and fifth at the Penn State Tune-Up.
What’s Next for the Mountaineers?
The competition will continue at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational on April 5th at the Goerge Mason Stadium. The competition is set to begin at 10 a.m. ET.
Next, the Mountaineers will compete in the Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pa., at the Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium. This event will take place from April 12th-April 14th.
