Next Up for the Mountaineers

The upcoming weekend is a busy one for the Mountaineers, with a split weekend between the Bryan Clay Invitational and Mountaineer Twilight on April 16-19.

The Bryan Clay Invitational will begin on Wednesday at the Cougar Athletic Stadium in Azusa, California while the Mountaineer Twilights starts Friday at the Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park in Morgantown.

Both meets offer valuable opportunities for athletes to compete against high-level competition and fine-tune performances. With the outdoor season in full swing, every race is a chance to gain momentum.

A Deeper Look into Azusa Pacific University

The Bryan Clay Invitational will be hosted by Azusa Pacific University. The event will consist of over 5,000 participating athletes being represented by more than 400 universities.

On April 10-11, Azusa Pacific University hosted their opening portion of the Bryan Clay Invitationals, which they call the Bryan Clay Multis. The standout performer in this competition was Esther Conde-Turpin. Conde-Turpin was helping to secure the heptathlon title at her home track for the second time – which she succeeded in doing. To secure her second win in three years. Conde-Turpin successfully collected 5,974 points. Her score of 2:14.74 in the 800 meters is currently ranked #1 in the NCAA Division II performance list this season. Conde-Turpin will most definitely be a force to be reckoned with, but the Mountaineers have momentum on their side and the talent to rise to the occasion. A strong showing at Bryan Clay could put them right in the mix.
