Around the Big 12: Wildcats Throw Away Game at Northeastern

Three errors led to four unearned runs in the first three innings, as Kansas State turned a 3-0 start into an 11-4 loss to Northeastern on Tuesday in Brookline, Mass.

Kansas State sits one game back of West Virginia and TCU for first place in the Big 12, but the Wildcats looked nothing like a contender against the Huskies. Once Northeastern took the lead, the Wildcats couldn’t stop the snowball, as the Huskies scored in their first four turns at bat. Northeastern currently leads the Coastal Athletic Association and owns a win over 2024 Super Regional qualifier Connecticut. In February, the Huskies also briefly put a scare into the Boston Red Sox, losing 5-2 after holding a 2-0 lead after three frames.

Seth Dardar and Keegan O’Connor both homered in the first for Kansas State. The Wildcats didn’t score again until Nick English came home on a throwing error in the sixth. The teams complete a two-game series Wednesday before K-State visits Kansas in the Sunflower Showdown series.
