Around the Big 12: Wildcats Split Doubleheader With Red Raiders
Owen Kramkowski scattered eight hits over seven innings while holding host Texas Tech to just one run. Arizona did just enough at the plate to pick up a 2-1 win, splitting a doubleheader on Saturday in Lubbock, Texas.
Kramkowski’s seventh win of the season didn’t come easily. Arizona struggled against Texas Tech starter Tyler Bourdreau, going scoreless until the sixth inning.
Aaron Walton got the Wildcats going with a home run in the sixth inning, his lone hit of the game. Maddox Mihalakis then followed with a single and came around to score two batters later to ensure the Wildcats split the doubleheader.
Arizona’s bullpen gave a much sharper performance in the second game after losing the first game 12-3. Texas Tech unloaded on the Wildcats in Game 1 in the fifth and sixth innings, turning a 3-2 deficit into a 10-3 rout.
Robin Villenueve and Logan Hughes both homered in the first game for the Red Raiders. Mac Heuer evened his record, holding the Wildcats to two earned runs in six innings of work. Texas Tech sits in eighth place in the Big 12, as the Red Raiders have played much better inside the league than outside it. For the year, Texas Tech is 9-11 in league play and 5-13 outside of it.
The teams concluded the series Sunday.

Despite not striking anyone out, Cooper Moore controlled the game for the Jayhawks. He scattered five hits in six innings, allowing two earned runs to pick up his fifth win of the year. Utah never struck out during the game, but it didn’t matter because the Utes couldn’t string much offense together.
Santino Panaro hit a three-run home run for Utah in the ninth to make the score a bit closer, but the Utes never threatened once the Jayhawks got the offense going. Ian Francis drove in three runs for Kansas, and Brady Counsell scored three runs off of three hits. The teams finish the series Sunday, with the Jayhawks sitting second in the league.

Bearcats Deal Crippling Blow to Cowboys
Christian Mitchelle, Charlie Niehaus and Derrick Pitts drove in six runs from the bottom of the order, as Cincinnati clinched the series with an 11-4 win over Oklahoma State.
The loss dropped the Cowboys to three games under .500 with 11 to play. To be eligible for the NCAA tournament without winning the Big 12 tournament, the Cowboys must go 8-3 or better over the remainder of the season.
Dardar Slams Cougars in K-State Rout
Seth Dardar hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to break open K-State’s 14-5 win over Houston on Saturday. Dardar was one of three Wildcats to homer, as Shintaro Inoue and Sam Flores both also went yard.
That was more than enough support for Michael Quevedo, who picked up his fifth win of the season. The Wildcats improved to 10-1 in league play in Manhattan this season. Brandon Bishop and Riley Jackson homered in the loss for Houston.
Sun Devils Sweep Cougars
Matt King drove in four runs and Arizona State buried BYU from the beginning, scoring 13 runs in its first two turns at bat. The Sun Devils emerged with a 16-6 win in eight innings to complete the sweep.
The Sun Devils blasted eight home runs in the first two innings, with King, Isaiah Jackson and Brody Briggs both hitting two each. Jackson had five RBIs, while Briggs only drove in himself because he followed a Jackson home run both times he homered.
Luke Anderson drove in three runs for BYU.
