Around the Big 12: Cowboys Earn Big Tuesday Victory

Nolan Schubart homered twice and Oklahoma State smashed six long balls, earning a 16-4 run-rule win over No. 22 Dallas Baptist.

The Patriots nearly avoided the run-rule by pushing across two runs in the top of the seventh, cutting Oklahoma State’s lead to seven runs. But they left the bases loaded and the Cowboy bats stayed hot in the bottom of the frame. Jayson Jones’ three-run blast capped off a five-run inning and ended the game on a modified walk-off.

At 18-19, the Cowboys present one of the more interesting cases down the stretch. They’re nowhere near contending for first place in the Big 12, but they must get to .500 or better to be eligible for the NCAA tournament. They have 13 games remaining and will visit Cincinnati this weekend.
